Jessica (she/her)
Software Developer
I am a career changer, I took the opportunity of lockdown and used the time to my advantage to start on a bootcamp. I realised I had so many transferable skills - even though I don't know tech & I'm not techy that doesn't matter.
I'm a knowledge seeker and problem solver so software development is an environment I thrive in. I love that if I work hard, I progress, and I'm not limited by my perceived 'education' or qualifications. Tech is so accessible because the information is readily available on the Internet.
Forget the stereotypes of what you think, of course they exist, however if you love learning and want to be in full control of that then tech is a space for you.
You don't need to be into tech, you don't need to be good at maths. You need to be comfortable with not knowing, problem solving and contiual learning. Progression for me is ' I don't know, but I'm OK with that because I will.'
