Senior Progammes Manager
I'm one of the non-techies in tech who took a bit of a convoluted path to get here. I started with a degree in philosophy which led to my first job in a very large, corporate international bank. I later moved to a small charity delivering investment to highly local, small social enterprises and discovered my love of the business-for-good sector. However I knew I wanted to learn more about more commercial ways of doing business to ensure my skills remained well-rounded as my career developed. Cue IN4 Group: an award-winning tech group that delivers social outcomes through a commercial lens. Joining IN4 was a no brainer for me and one of the best decisions I've made.
Being in tech, I love having the opportunity to understand more about how the world we're in is shaped by technology and creating programmes that help ordinary people and businesses harness digital opportunities to their benefit.
I won't lie, there have been challenges - the absence of diversity in a number of tech spaces has been difficult. However I'm lucky to have an amazing network of women in the tech space, which has made it infinitely easier to exist in the sector as a queer, non-binary person. If you're considering a career in tech, do it! We need more diversity in the sector. Technology is growing at an astonishing rate and the more viewpoints we involve in shaping this, the better all communities with be served by technology in the future.
